Abstract

School councelors need to have a high motivation, up to date and hands on references materials to deliver a better councelling. The purposes of this research are to investigate whether 1) school counsellor’s motivation was higher through using organizational culture 2) school counsellor’s motivation was higher through using transformational leadership 3)there is interaction between organizational culture and principal’s transformational leadership in counsellor’s motivation in state senior high school in Medan and 4) what variable was significantly higher in affecting school councellor’s motivation. The sample was 30 school counsellor of 6 state senior high school in Medan. This research was conducted by using both quantitative and qualitative method, and the instrument used was questionaire. The result of data analysis proved that organization culture significantly affect to the school counsellor’s motivation with robeserved ( 0,417) ≥ rtable (0,361), principal’s transformational leadership significantly affect to the school counsellor’s motivation with robeserved ( 0,813) ≥ rtable (0,361). This result showed that both organzational culture and transformational leadership have a significant interaction to school’s counsellor motivation. Furthermore, this finding was interpereted by using qualitative to describe school councellor’s motivation in state senior high school of Medan was significantly affected by transformational leadership rather than organizational culture.
