Abstract
This study investigated some underlying factors that necessitated the use of alcohol among youth in Ikenne Local Government in Ogun State.. A sample of 243 youth comprises of 204 males and 42 females were randomly selected to participate in the study. The mean age and standard deviation was 20.2 and 9.31 respectively. The descriptive survey of ex-post-facto research design was employed. Two instruments namely Adolescent Behavioural Inventory(ABPI) and Alcohol Abstinence Self- Efficacy Scale (ABSS) were used to generate data for the study. All the hypotheses data were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Data was analysis with the use of Multiple Regression and Pearson product Moment Correlation. The results indicated that there is a significant combined contribution of emotion ,physical, social on alcoholic usage and F (3,239) = 13.352; P< .05.
