Abstract
Background: Ardita (Facial paralysis) is very troublesome disease and about one in every 60 or 70 persons are affected by it. It adversely affects the most important functions of the mouth leading to difficulty in deglutition, mastication, closing of the mouth as well as closure of eyes etc. Ardita being one of the Vatavyadhi is to be chiefly managed by Snehana and Svedana. Charaka advocates use of Nadi sveda and Nasya in Ardita. These measures can tackle the disease in its site and fulfill the well known principle of Ayurveda i. e. “Sthanam Jayed Hi Purvam”. Nasya Anu Taila has been specifically mentioned for Nasya karma (charaka) due to its Tridosha nashaka properties, indriya balya, and can be used in all the seasons. Objectives: To Evaluate the role of Dashamula kwatha Nadi sweda and nasya with Anu taila in the management of Ardita. Design: Randomized, open angle clinical study. Setting: The study took place at the BMJAMC, Gajendergad, India. Participants: The 40 participants were registered for study irrespective of their sex, caste, race etc. Intervention: Snehana with Anu taila, Dashamula kwatha Nadi Sveda followed by Anu taila Nasya. Results: 100% relief was found in some of the symptoms, i.e., Griva-Chibuk-DantanamParshve Vedana, Lalasrava, Shoola, Jvara and Trishna. . Conclusions: In the present clinical study dashamula kwatha nadi sweda and anu taila nasya offered better results in pacifying almost entire range of symptomatology.
