Abstract

Authorities, in Ivory Coast, put the emphasis on agriculture as pillar of the economic and socialdevelopment of the country, since its independence in 1960. In this perspective, efforts were undertaken infavor of the transfer of cultural innovations in rural area with the main objective of increasing of theproductiveness of the cultures of private food crops. This article analyses the results of this policy of transferand vulgarization of innovations through the introduction of soya. Going back to a sociological traditiondevoted to the study of transfer of innovation, the article analyses the reception which the peasantsconcerned reserved for innovations offered under the angle of evolution of social structures. On the basis ofthe study of the introduction of the cultures of soya, the article shows that the mutation of the society hasprovoked the restructuring of the reports of production and the birth of new needs in rural area. So, thetaking into account of the evolution of social structures is important for the success of the adoption ofcultural innovations
