Abstract

Classroom activities are a relation between a teacher and students who are all together to meantain the teaching
materials to reach a certain goal of teaching. A teacher shares the time for himself explaining teaching materials for learners who
are partisipating in class activities including to build their characters, otherwise the teaching material is a central to drive
everyone‟s activities which consists of some tasks instructions. This situation creates the classroom relation system that suits to
the concept of ecology. That is why; this research was concerned on the English learning activities in the classroom based on the
ecological linguistics approach focusing on the need for communicative competences related to communication in intra-cultural
contexts, inter-cultural context and trans-cultural context. Designing class environment and in-depth observation in classrooms
were selected as a data collecting method. Initiation, Response and Evaluation/Feedback (IRE/F) was for analyzing the activities
in the classroom. The findings of the research are: 1) learners get easier to comprehend the materials, because it is based on their
cultural context of biology, sociology and ideology, 2) learners‟ speeds learning and their learning strategy varies which
controlled by how they produce their own communicative competence based on their productive English skills, both of oral and
written in a group or individual activities, 3) they produce English as a tool for making communication than as a sciences of
language in the form of doing exercises on the papers test. Finally, all students perform their own English competencies based on
every activity step which instructed on every task, on the other hand teacher guided learners how to behave learning
