MASTER-Assissted Concept Map Strategy in Increasing Activity and Student Learning Outcomes of Mathematics Education,Program in Analytical Geometry Courses (Case study at Faculty of Education and Teacher Training UMSU)

Abstract

One of the learning strategies that are expected to provide students with learning motivation, innovative, shaping skills
and learning independence is MASTER-assisted concept map strategy. This study is a classroom action study that aims to
improve the teaching and learning process in mathematics education program of Faculty of Education and Teacher Training,
University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FKIP UMSU) at the second semester on analytical geometry lectures of flat field.
The subject of the study is the second semester students of Morning A class at Mathematics Education Program of FKIP UMSU
in 2014/2015 academic year which are 44 people. This classroom action research is conducted in 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of
planning, execution of action, observation and reflection. Data were collected through observation, learning result test and lecturer
record during the learning process. From the results of data analysis, it is concluded (1) The use of MASTER-assissted concept
map strategy can enhance the student activity of mathematics education program of UMSU on analytic geometry lectures of flat
field and (2) The use of strategies MASTER-assissted concept map strategy can enhance student learning outcomes of
mathematics education program of UMSU on analytical geometry lectures of flat field.
