Abstract

A peer tutor is anyone who is of a similar status as the person being tutored. It increases self confidence and self efficacy. The main purpose of this study knows the improvement in self reliance and interest in English of tutors and tutees after the process of peer tutoring. Eighth standard students were selected as sample for the experimental study. Two group parallel designs were chosen for this experimental study such as one control and one experimental group with pre-test and post-test. Tutors of experimental group were trained to act as tutor for this research purpose. The„t‟ test was applied for analyzing Pre-test and posttest marks of both control and experimental group. The result exposed that, the experimental group students (both tutors and tutees) exhibited a remarkable improvement in learning English and self reliance who received the content through peer tutoring than the control group students who were taught by the investigator through traditional way of teaching.
