Abstract
Our mental impulses, worry probably gets the least respect. We chide overly nervous people for being worrywarts; too much rumination causes worry lines. Unrelenting worry is one of the primary features of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). New research underscores the idea that holding positive beliefs about worry—believing it helps to function as a better person and avoid negative things in life—contributes to maintaining worry and anxiety.
